Spencer Shiffman is an editor and filmmaker. He’s edited narrative work that has played at oscar qualifying film festivals and streamed on recognized platforms.
He began his career working as the assistant photographer of the Toronto Raptors. In 2015, he started working in post-production and joined the Directors Guild of Canada, working as an assistant editor on various scripted feature films, and network shows (Ransom produced by Frank Spotnitz, Baroness Von Sketch Show, Lullaby directed by John Leonetti).
He moved to Los Angeles to attend the AFI (American Film Institute) in 2020 and obtained his MFA (Masters in Fine Arts) graduating in August 2022.
He is obsessed with all things cinema and film history, watches a lot of movies, stand-up comedy, food content, and loves basketball. Some of his favourite authors are Haruki Murakami, Otessa Mofshegh, John Cheever, and Jim Thompson.
Through editing he focuses on shaping natural performances and to emotionally affect an audience through tension, comedy, or catharsis.
